8 Simple Rules for Ratings Success In an apparent attempt to duplicate the ratings bonanza caused by John Ritter's death, the producers of "8 Simple Rules" have invited James Garner, 75, to play the father-in-law of Ritter's deceased character. I'm actually worried that Peter Boyle will die before "Raymond"'s season is over. He looks worse and worse each year.
